MUSCAT: The Public Authority for Manpower Register (PAMR) has announced a number of job
opportunities at the government and the private sectors of which 200 jobs are in the private sector for holders of higher diploma certificates and above.
This is the first time for PAMR to publish a job vacancy announcement in a special supplement, said Dr Yunus al Akhzami, Executive Chairman of PAMR, adding that the new thing in the announcement is that it put together a number of jobs in different sectors in one place.
This is also the first time to use a unified number for application for jobs in various sectors which will help greatly in analysing and understanding the labour market and thereby assisting the decision-makers to arrive at the appropriate decisions, Al Akhzami. The chairman of PAMR revealed that the government has recruited more than 105,000 Omanis during the past four years and that figure far exceeded all expectations, Al Akhzami said adding that the PAMR is cooperating with a work team representing different entities to devise a national directory for the classification and description of professions
and linking them with the academic specialisations. He pointed to the existing difficulties in linking specialisations with the abour market and added that the PAMR surveying has shown that the IT specialisations get the highest demand in the labour market at present. — ONA
